Magpies trial Danish youth

Newcastle are running the rule over Denmark Under-18 international striker Kevin Mensah, having brought the youngster over to England for a second trial.
Mensah is currently on Danish First Division side Viborg FF’s books and has been invited to St James’ Park again following a stint with The Magpies last year.
“Kevin has come over to prove that he is good enough, and that he has what we seek,” Newcastle scout Ole Nielsen told bold.dk. “And he has to also see if Newcastle have anything for him, this is two-way.
“Now, some things happened in the club last year which means that he came over again.
“But I have some of the reports from last year when he did so well and so I have had a good dialogue with (sporting director) Steffen Hojer in Viborg.”
Nielsen stressed that no agreement between Newcastle and Viborg had yet been made over the youngster, but that the club would conclude their assessment of him before deciding a suitable course of action to follow.
“As far as I am aware, an agreement that we should offer an amount of money to Mensah has not been made,” said Nielsen.
“Now we see him, and then we take the decision.
“But it is clear if we think he is good enough we will get a bid in, and so then it's out of my hands how the negotiations go.
“But yes, we are interested in him, otherwise we would not bring him over again.”
