While Stuart Pearce - in charge of the England under-21s - may be the man to take over from Capello on an interim basis, Harry Redknapp - who walked free from court on Wednesday - has been widely touted as the favourite to lead the team into this summer's European Championship. However, the rumour mill is turning very rapidly and people are discussing who they would like to see given the role on social networking sites like Twitter, and Redknapp is not the only name being bandied about. Despite the fact Real Madrid are presently seven points clear at the top of La Liga, there have been reports the Jose Mourinho is not enjoying his time in Spain, and he has recently hinted at a return to England. The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss has been heavily linked with several club posts including Manchester City, Spurs and even Arsenal. But now it is thought the Special One could be in line for the international job if he is interested. Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side may have won 7-1 at the weekend but he has had a tough time of it recently and some Gunners fans have made it know that they are less than satisfied with him. Wenger has always been linked with the France national team though and speculation suggests he could take over after Euro 2012, because the team's current boss Laurent Blanc is believed to have fallen out with the football federation. Dutchman Guus Hiddink is a giant in footballing terms with plenty of experience in international management. He has led the Netherlands, South Korea, Turkey and Russia as well as numerous club sides. He also speaks good English and is familiar with the British press following his successful but brief spell in charge of Chelsea in 2009. Some English coaches have been mentioned too - the likes of Roy Hodgson and Sam Allardyce, who both have long and distinguished records in club football. Even David Beckham, who has no experience in management and has just signed a new deal with LA Galaxy has been talked about by some as a possible candidate. But obvious as it may be, many believe the most likely man to succeed Capello is indeed Harry Redknapp. That might sound like grim news for Spurs fans, who are currently third in the Premier League, but it is certainly not impossible for managers to continue coaching their club team until the end of the season before taking up an international role for a major tournament.</media:text>

Capello reaction: Former FA chief is "surprised not shocked"

Former FA chief executive Brian Barwick said he is "surprised but not shocked" at the resignation of Fabio Capello as England manager.

Related Stories

Capello reaction: Former FA chief executive Brian Barwick

Capello could be in trouble over Terry comments

FA statement on Fabio Capello in full

Shearer shocked by Capello decision

Shearer 'surprised' by Capello support for Terry

Related Stories

Barton deemed no threat to Terry trial

Capello quits England

Capello's successor: The contenders

FA statement on Fabio Capello in full

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>fabio capello resigns, capello quits, football association, FA, Brian Barwick, john terry, euros.</media:keywords><media:text>Former FA chief executive Brian Barwick said he is "surprised but not shocked" at the resignation of Fabio Capello as England manager. This follows a meeting involving FA chairman David Bernstein, FA general secretary Alex Horne and Fabio Capello at Wembley Stadium. The discussions focused on The FA Board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview. In a meeting for over an hour, Fabio's resignation was accepted and he will leave the post of England Manager with immediate effect. David Bernstein said: "I would like to stress that during today's meeting and throughout his time as England Manager, Fabio has conducted himself in an extremely professional manner. We have accepted Fabio's resignation, agreeing this is the right decision. We would like to thank Fabio for his work with the England team and wish him every success in the future." A media conference with David Bernstein and the Club England Management team will take place at Wembley on Thursday at 12 noon. The FA will not be making any further comment until the media conference."</media:text>

Capello quits England

Fabio Capello has quit as England manager following a meeting with the Football Association.

Related Stories

UK GDP falls in 2011

Britain braced for Arctic blasts

Sir Alex Ferguson on John Terry and Rio Ferdinand

Shearer shocked by Capello decision

Shearer 'surprised' by Capello support for Terry

Related Stories

Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion

Capello's successor: The contenders

FA statement on Fabio Capello in full

Capello reaction: Former FA chief is "surprised not shocked"

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>fabio capello, england, football association, david bernstein</media:keywords><media:text>Fabio Capello has quit as England manager following a meeting with the Football Association. He had been holding talks with the FA to try and draw a line under comments he made about John Terry's involvement as a player for the national team The discussions had been taking place between Capello, FA chairman David Bernstein and general secretary Alex Horne. It wasn't expected the Italian would hand in his resignation. An FA statement read: "The discussions focused on the FA board's decision to remove the England team captaincy from John Terry, and Fabio Capello's response through an Italian broadcast interview. The search for a new manager is now under way as Capello leaves the job with immediate effect. The odds on Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp becoming the next boss have shortened after his acquittal for tax fraud. David Bernstein and the Club England management team are due to hold a press conference on Thursday lunchtime to talk about the latest development. It means that Capello will never lead England into a major tournament again, leaving before the opportunity to manage the team at the Euro 2012 Championships in Poland and Ukraine.</media:text>

Capello's successor: The contenders

Harry Redknapp is a contender for England manager after Fabio Capello's shock exit.

Related Stories

Capello could be in trouble over Terry comments

England Manager Fabio Capello resigns

Capello reaction: Former FA chief executive Brian Barwick

FA statement on Fabio Capello in full

Capello reaction: Former FA chief is "surprised not shocked"

Related Stories

Barton deemed no threat to Terry trial

Capello quits England

FA statement on Fabio Capello in full

Capello reaction: Former FA chief is "surprised not shocked"

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Capello resigns, Fabio Capello quits, John Terry, England manager, Euro 2012, Football Association, racism row.</media:keywords><media:text>Fabio Capello's shock exit has created a vacancy for an England manager, just four months away from the start of Euro 2012. Unlike when Capello was offered £6million a year to clear up the mess left by Steve McClaren, the Football Association do at least have options: HARRY REDKNAPP Ticks all the boxes; English, managed in the Champions League, won trophies, plays attractive football and has done so with Tottenham thanks to a core of English players, including captaincy candidate Scott Parker. Has to be the overwhelming favourite now he's been acquitted of tax fraud. ROY HODGSON Was strongly fancied to replace Capello following the 2010 World Cup. However, before the FA made their decision, Hodgson plumped for an ill-fated spell with Liverpool. Now at West Brom, Hodgson has vast managerial experience and would be viewed as a safe pair of hands. ALAN PARDEW After difficult spells at Charlton and Southampton, Pardew has re-established his reputation at Newcastle. Overcome a lot of scepticism to re-establish the Magpies as a top-flight force and not yet out of contention for a Champions League place after an outstanding campaign. STUART PEARCE Long-time coach of the England Under-21 side and confirmed as boss of the Olympic team later this year. Pearce's fierce reputation as a player took a knock when he failed to curb the excesses of Joey Barton at Manchester City. Lacks experience of the club scene but many other countries prefer to appoint from within. JOSE MOURINHO Impeccable CV and perfect grasp of English. One man who would have no problem controlling the dressing-room egos. Tipped to leave Real Madrid in the summer, his fiery temperament might be a big problem for the FA, in addition to his salary demands, which are sure to be high. ARSENE WENGER Hugely respected in England and his knowledge of the domestic game clearly an advantage. In the middle of a vast rebuilding exercise at Arsenal, where some fans have turned against him, so not impossible to believe he could be prised away. Never shown any liking for the international game though.</media:text>

Rare Martian meteorite being examined

A rare Martian meteorite is being researched by scientists so more can be learnt about the Red Planet.

Related Stories

Amazing pictures of rare Martian meteorite

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Mars, martian meteorite, planets, solar system, galaxy, stars, scientists, Natural History Museum.</media:keywords><media:text>A rare Martian meteorite is being researched by scientists so more can be learnt about the Red Planet. The video was captured by teaching assistant Coryn Memory, who apparently saw the animal as many as five times before managing to capture it on film. Far from the usual conspiracy theory or hoax, this footage has been investigated by Big Cat expert Frank Tunbridge, who, by superimposing images over the footage, managed to estimate the cat at 6ft long from tip to tail. In one scene, the cat appears to be the same size as a passing fox, despite the fox being considerably closer to the camera. The footage is far from conclusive proof that Big Cats are thriving in the British countryside, but it does add weight to the argument in favour.</media:text>

Harry Redknapp's conversation with NOTW reporter Rob Beasley

Following Harry Redknapp's acquittal over tax evasion charges, the conversation between the Spurs boss and a reporter has been released.

Related Stories

Harry Redknapp's conversation with NOTW reporter Rob Beasley

Steve Coogan settles NOTW hacking claim

Related Stories

Redknapp jurors consider verdicts

Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion

Mandaric acquitted over tax charges

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>rob beasley, harry redknapp, milan mandaric, notw, news of the world, charges, taxes, off-shore, peter crouch, money.</media:keywords><media:text>Following Harry Redknapp's acquittal for taking bungs in an offshore tax dodge, the taped conversation between the Spurs boss and a News of the World reporter has been released. "Was it your cut on player sales?," NOTW sports reporter Rob Beasley is heard asking Redknapp. "It was a cut on a player sale," Redknapp responds. RB: "Peter Crouch?" HR: "On Peter Crouch! Five per cent of Peter Crouch." Redknapp's defence claimed the information he gave NOTW sports reporter Rob Beasley about why over £90,000 was paid into his Monaco bank account was in fact false and the money had nothing to do with his employment. But prosecutor John Black QC urged the jury in a closing speech to conclude the sum was in fact a bonus paid to Redknapp arising from Portsmouth's profits on the sale of the striker to Aston Villa. Redknapp told the court on Tuesday: "I don't have to tell Mr Beasley the truth. I have to tell police the truth, not Mr Beasley, he's a News of the World reporter."</media:text><media:thumbnail url="http://feeds.itn.co.uk/itnwebsite/story38628_120208redknapphone08_1_320x240.jpg" The video, taken by a local resident, seems to show the most well known monster in the country's folklore. Apparently, legend has it that the snake-like creature started off as a small heather worm that was put onto a golden ring. The ring apparently caused it to grow and grow, so it was thrown into the Lagarfljot river. Those who do not believe that this is the monster think the pictures show a bit of net. They say the net blew into the river and froze and when the ice cleared, the so called worm started to slither around in the river.</media:text>

Mandaric acquitted over tax charges

Milan Mandaric has been cleared at Southwark Crown Court of sending Harry Redknapp a tax-free offshore bung worth £93,100.

Related Stories

Milan Mandaric cleared of tax evasion

Harry Redknapp not guilty of tax evasion

Related Stories

Redknapp jurors consider verdicts

Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion

Harry Redknapp's conversation with NOTW reporter Rob Beasley

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Milan Mandaric, harry redknapp, tax evasion, bungs, off-shore account, news.</media:keywords><media:text>Milan Mandaric has been cleared at Southwark Crown Court of sending Harry Redknapp a tax-free offshore bung worth £93,100. Following the not guilty verdicts, Redknapp immediately left the court, while Mandaric walked up to Detective Inspector Dave Manley to shake his hand and say "Thank you". Speaking outside court Mr Mandaric said the prosecution had been a "horrible dream" but said he had always believed in British justice. It can also be revealed that the former Portsmouth chairman was tried and acquitted of another tax fiddling charge at the club. Mandaric and ex-chief executive Peter Storrie were both cleared by a jury after being accused of a £600,000 tax dodge over player transfer payments. Mr Storrie applied in November to have a reporting ban lifted, saying it was having a "devastating" impact on his personal life, but a judge ruled against his application pending the conclusion of Mandaric's trial alongside Harry Redknapp.</media:text>

Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been cleared of dodging tax on the deposit in his Monaco account, Rosie 47.

Related Stories

Redknapp jurors consider verdicts

Sir Alex Ferguson on John Terry and Rio Ferdinand

Related Stories

Redknapp jurors consider verdicts

Mandaric acquitted over tax charges

Harry Redknapp's conversation with NOTW reporter Rob Beasley

Capello quits England

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Harry Redknapp, Spurs boss, manager, England, tax dodging, tax evasion, Monaco, Rosie 47, Milan Mandaric, not guilty, cleared, jury, Portsmouth chief executive, Peter Storrie</media:keywords><media:text>Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been cleared of dodging tax on the deposit in his Monaco account, Rosie 47. Jurors accepted Redknapp's angry denials that he avoided tax on any payments over £189,000 found in the account. Milan Mandaric and former Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie were also cleared of £600,000 tax dodge claims at a previous trial, it can be reported for the first time. Mandaric and Redknapp embraced in the dock as the verdicts were read out on Wednesday, after five hours of deliberations, with the football manager immediately leaving the court. Judge Anthony Leonard made no comment other than to discharge the jury. The Tottenham Hotspur manager's hopes of leading the England team received a major boost as he walked free from court. Speaking to reporters following the verdict, Harry Redknapp said he had been through a five year long "nightmare", adding that the case "should never have come to court". His acquittal marks a disastrous end of a five-year £8 million inquiry into football corruption by tax authorities and City of London Police.</media:text>

Endangered crocs released into the wild

A crocodile breeding centre in Nepal are celebrating after recently releasing 40 endangered crocs into the wild.

Related Stories

Crocodiles brush their teeth before release into wild

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>crocodile, crocs, gharial, gharial crocodiles, endangered species, nature, funny animals, tooth, teeth, bush.</media:keywords><media:text>A crocodile breeding centre in Nepal is celebrating after recently releasing 40 endangered crocs into the wild. Around 64-years-ago, German student Hans Feldmeier was, like millions of others in the war-torn country, given a "care" aid package while he was at Rostock University. Overtime, the package's contents were eaten - but a tin of lard was left untouched and has since followed Hans through three house-moves and several decades. "It was the case that we thought, oh well we aren't so hungry just now and it might get worse. So we just kept it and kept it," he said. "But the tins were so pretty! We didn't want to get rid of them. Then of course at some point I was curious to see whether or not the stuff was still good or not," Mr Feldmeier added. Despite the ongoing debate over food use-by labels, the retired chemist sent the tin off to a lab to assess its edibility, and it was found to still be good. To celebrate, Mr Feldmeier and his wife decided to spread the paste onto dark rye bread, or pumpernickel, and sprinkle a bit of salt on it, before tucking in. The verdict? "It has quite a neutral taste. But it was good with the salt and pumpernickel. I can't say it's inedible. It's really ok," Feldmeier said.</media:text>

Obama fires marshmallow cannon at White House wall

Barack Obama is clearly "gunning" for re-election because he has been filmed firing a marshmallow gun at a White House wall.

Related Stories

Obama fires Extreme Marshmellow Cannon at White House wall

US President Barack Obama's virtual 'hangout'

Newt Gingrich wins South Carolina Republican primary

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>us president, extreme marshing, marshmallow cannon, barack obama, white house, science fair</media:keywords><media:text>Barack Obama is clearly "gunning" for re-election because he has been filmed firing a marshmallow gun at a White House wall. Stephen Hester, who heads up the 83 per cent state-owned bank, disclosed that he had considered resigning amid the political storm, but also revealed he felt responsible for defusing the "timebomb" of the bank's balance sheet. "In the end, I came to the conclusion that it would be indulgent for me to resign," he told journalists. Mr Hester said he decided to waive the bonus - to be paid in bank shares - because of the damage the row was doing to the bank. "I took the judgment that it was going to be damaging for RBS to stay in the intensity of the spotlight that we had got into," he said. While he said he had "great sympathy and understanding" for people concerned about the high rewards in the banking industry, he explained it was essential that RBS was able to recruit the best people to resolve the problems it had inherited. "When I was asked to take on this job three years ago, I had to replace the whole senior management team of RBS," he said. "Those people are doing a good job. I think they deserve recognition. If they do a good job, it is our task to make sure that there is a connection between the job people are doing and how they get treated."</media:text>

Attacks in Homs resume after Russian talks

Forces loyal to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad have killed at least 47 civilians as they continued their assault on Homs on Wednesday.

Related Stories

Assad 'committed to ending violence in Syria'

Assault on Homs resumes

William Hague expresses disappointment with Syria

Syria's Assad vows to strike with an 'iron fist'

Syria issues 'general amnesty'

Related Stories

Syrian attacks on Homs kills 50

Assault on Homs resumes

Assad 'committed to ending violence in Syria'

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Syria, Damascus, Assad, Homs, President Bashar al-Assad, Bashar al-Assad, Sergei Lavrov, Lavrov</media:keywords><media:text>Forces loyal to Syria's President Bashar al-Assad have killed at least 47 civilians as they continued their assault on Homs on Wednesday, a day after Russia insisted Assad wants peace. According to activists, tanks moved closer to the Bab Amro district in the central Syrian city, which has been the target of the heaviest barrages by loyalist troops, who have killed at least 150 people in the last two days. "Electricity returned briefly and we were able to contact various neighbourhoods because activists there managed to recharge their phones. We counted 47 killed since midnight," activist Mohammad Hassan said by satellite phone. Hassan said the bombardment intensified in the early morning, concentrating on Bab Amro, al-Bayada, al-Khalidiya and Wadi al-Arab - Sunni Muslim neighbourhoods that have risen up against Assad's 11 year rule. "Mortar and rocket fires have subsided, but heavy machineguns and anti-aircraft guns are still strong ... tanks are in main thoroughfares in the city and appear poised to push deep into residential areas," he added. The attacks on Homs continued despite Russia winning a promise from Assad to bring an end to the bloodshed, while Western and Arab states acted to further isolate Assad following the onslaught on the city, one of the bloodiest of the 11-month uprising.</media:text>

Rick Santorum revives presidential hopes

Rick Santorum revived his presidential hopes with a surprise sweep of the three nominating contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

Related Stories

Newt Gingrich wins South Carolina Republican primary

Poll upset as Gingrich wins primary

Mitt Romney takes Nevada

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, president, presidential hopes</media:keywords><media:text>Former US senator Rick Santorum revived his presidential hopes on Tuesday with a surprise sweep of the three nominating contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri. In a blow to Mitt Romney, Santorum trounced the front-runner by 30 percentage points in Missouri, which despite being a non-binding primary, has symbolic value as a measure of support in a big Midwestern state. After big wins in Nevada and Florida in the previous week, Romney had done little campaigning in Minnesota and Missouri and had been expected to win easily in Colorado. Even though he still holds strong advantages in financing and organisation, his campaign will now have to refocus to fight back the challenge from the surging conservative Santorum. With eight contests to date in the Republican race - including the three on Tuesday - Santorum has now won in four states, Romney in three and former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich in one.</media:text>

UK braced for extended cold spell

The UK is expecting another arctic blast of snow, as the big freeze shows no sign of melting away.

Related Stories

BIG FREEZE: Parts of the UK already covered in snow

Heathrow's snow plan 'has worked well' insists BAA

Scotland 'may be offered independence vote'

Ken Clarke scraps MI5 and MI6 'torture' inquiry

Torture probe to be scrapped

Related Stories

Madonna to play two summer UK gigs

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>weather, cold snap, snow, big freeze, forecasters, UK, Britain</media:keywords><media:text>The UK is expecting another arctic blast of snow, as the big freeze shows no sign of melting away. President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said the UK's decision to send one of its most modern warships, HMS Dauntless, and the Duke of Cambridge to the South Atlantic outpost posed a risk to "international security". A Foreign Office spokesman said: "The people of the Falkland Islands are British out of choice. They are free to determine their own future and there will be no negotiations with Argentina over sovereignty unless the islanders wish it." Argentina is continuing to demand that Britain gives up control of the disputed archipelago with tensions between the two countries growing in recent weeks. Speaking to an audience including Falkland war veterans and other politicians at Argentina's presidential residence last night, Ms Kirchner said: "I have instructed our chancellor to present formally to the Security Council of the United Nations and before the General Assembly of the United Nations this militarisation of the South Atlantic which implies a great risk for international security." Tensions between London and Buenos Aires have been rising in the run-up to the 30th anniversary of the war over the islands. Last week Prince William began a six-week posting in the region in his role as an RAF search and rescue pilot.</media:text>

MPs call on May to deport Qatada

Tory MPs have called on the Home Secretary to "become a national hero" and deporting a terror suspect.

Related Stories

Judges block Qatada deportation

David Cameron and Ed Miliband agree on Scotland at PMQs

Nick Clegg says welfare system must be reformed

David Cameron condemns Argentina over Falkland Islands

Iain Duncan Smith confident over welfare reforms

Related Stories

Jay-Z 'takes over' Carnegie Hall in New York

Stephen Hester 'underestimated' bonus furore

Capello quits England

FA statement on Fabio Capello in full

Who next for England after Capello resignation?

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Abu Qatada, commons, Theresa May, Home Secretary, House of Commons debate, bail conditions</media:keywords><media:text>Tory MPs have called on the Home Secretary to "become a national hero" by ignoring a European Court of Human Rights judgement and deporting a terror suspect back to Jordan. Abu Qatada is due to be released on bail while appeals proceed on whether he can be deported to Jordan. He cannot currently be deported until assurances are received that any evidence used against him in a Jordanian court will not have been obtained by torture. Answering an urgent question in the Commons, Theresa May insisted the bail conditions would be very strict and the Government wanted to deport Qatada before the bail expired in three months. But Peter Bone, MP for Wellingborough, said: "We have a vicious, nasty terrorist. We have the Supreme Court who says send him home. We have a friendly Government. We have a gutsy Home Secretary. "You have listened to what Parliament has said today. You could become a national hero if you leave this chamber, pick up the phone and order him to be sent back to Jordan tonight."</media:text>

The Vow: How not to cry during weepy movie

Stars of The Vow, Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, offer their tips on how not to cry during their new movie.

Related Stories

The Vow: Channing Tatum's guide to surviving new movie

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>the vow, channing tatum, rachel mcadams, fun, romantic, crying, guide to, movies, gossip.</media:keywords><media:text>The Vow is the perfect date night movie, unless of course you are worried about crying uncontrollably in front of your cinema partner. The new film features Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, stars of two of the top weepy movies of the last few years, Dear John and The Notebook. Now the actors have given their top tips to surviving the film, without embarrassing yourself. Channing reckons you should blame popcorn going the "wrong pipe". While Rachel came up with a simple solution, she said: "Just make out the whole time." The Vow, which is the story of a women who loses her memory and cannot remember her husband, is out across the UK on February 10.</media:text>

Assad 'committed to ending violence in Syria'

Russian Foreign Minister says President Bashar al-Assad is ready to accept an expanded Arab League mission in Syria.

Related Stories

Assault on Homs resumes

William Hague expresses disappointment with Syria

Syria's Assad vows to strike with an 'iron fist'

Syria issues 'general amnesty'

US considers closing embassy in Syria

Related Stories

Syrian attacks on Homs kills 50

Assault on Homs resumes

Attacks in Homs resume after Russian talks

<media:category>Headlines</media:category><media:keywords>Syria, Damascus, Assad, Homs, President Bashar al-Assad, Bashar al-Assad, Sergei Lavrov, Lavrov</media:keywords><media:text>Russian Foreign Minister says President Bashar al-Assad is ready to accept an expanded Arab League mission in Syria and schedule a constitutional referendum. Following what he described as "very useful meetings", Sergei Lavrov insisted the president assured him he was "completely committed" to seeking an end to violence by all sides and was ready to seek dialogue with all political groups. He said: "The president of Syria assured us he was completely committed to the task of stopping violence regardless of where it may come from." Opposition groups have dismissed similar pledges in the past as Assad continued trying to eliminate unrest with tanks and troops and branded his adversaries "terrorists" and "armed gangs". Syrian forces resumed their heavy bombardment of the city of Homs, with activists and residents saying 95 civilians were killed on Monday. Russia and China vetoed a resolution in the UN Security Council that supported an Arab League call for the president to step down. Moscow said the draft would have put too little pressure on armed opponents of the government, which it says must share responsibility for nearly a year of bloodshed that has killed thousands of people.</media:text>
