Champions League clash with Chelsea next on Fabio Aurelio hit list

Apr 21 2008

by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

FABIO AURELIO believes Liverpool have all but won the race for fourth and should now concentrate all their efforts on knocking Chelsea out of the Champions League.

The Reds went eight points clear of fifth placed Everton thanks to a 2-0 win at Fulham on Saturday and with just three Premier League games left to play are odds on favourites to clinch the all important fourth spot.

Though Aurelio is keen for Liverpool to continue adding to their points tally, he also realises the healthy league position they find themselves in means they can now turn all their attentions to tomorrow night's Champions League clash with Chelsea at Anfield.

"I think the win against Fulham was a big result because it puts eight points between us and Everton and that probably means the job is now done," he said. "Now we have to look to keep on winning so we can get as many points as we can in the league because there are still three games to go.

"The good thing about this win is it will make it easier for us to concentrate on the Champions League."
