Strange up for Premiership return

WELSHMAN Jason Strange has put an instant Guinness Premiership return at the top of his agenda.

Fly-half Strange has agreed a two-year deal at Leeds Carnegie after leaving Bristol.

Strange, 34, spent four seasons with Bristol, amassing 825 points and was the club’s top points scorer in the Guinness Premiership last season.

“It is going to be a tough challenge, but it is a great opportunity for me,” said Strange, whose previous clubs include Newport, Llanelli, Pontypridd and Rotherham.

“Hopefully, I will be able to help Leeds Carnegie get back to where they need to be.”

Strange is the first signing for Leeds’ new coaching team of Andy Key and Neil Back, who aim to mastermind a quick Premiership return following the club’s relegation last term.

He joins fellow new recruits Henry Paul, Phil Murphy, Scott Barrow, Jon Pendlebury and Pete Bucknall at Headingley.
