Zimbabwean glad to do final day in Jordan.

Citroen privateer Conrad Rautenbach believes that the experience gained on the final day in Jordan will help him on the next three rounds in Sardinia, Greece and Turkey.

Rautenbach, who eventually finished in 26th position, had a very, very disappointing event, especially after doing so well in Argentina and finishing in fourth.

Conrad was running in ninth at the end of day 1, until he had a clutch failure following the final stage and was unable to get back to service. That dropped him down to 27th place.

Day two however was worse and he was involved in a head-on collision with fellow Citroen runner and four-time world champion, Sebastien Loeb on a road section leading from and into SS11. Both were forced out on the spot.

The African Rally champion re-started again on the final day though and while he did have handling problems on the first loop - as a result of that day 2 smash - he managed to set another three top ten times, to add to the two he posted on day 1, and that was at least something positive.

Indeed Conrad was pleased to get in more mileage with his PH Sport-run Citroen C4 WRC car.

"It's been good to get back in the car today [Sunday]. As I said before the start, I want to spend as much time as possible in the Citroen driving it," he reflected.

"Getting those two long stages in was really important. It's helped me ahead of the next three rallies, which are run under similar conditions.

"I now know more about how the car will handle hot and rough roads, which is really important for me ahead of Sardinia, Greece and Turkey."

Fellow PH Sport-Citroen C4 runner Urmo Aava meanwhile also had a tough event and while he ran in the points throughout, he hit a rock in the second stage on the final day and was unable to finish. The Estonian had been comfortably on course to take fifth, nearly two minutes up on his closest rival.
