Stop knives save lives: Celebrities back Mirror campaign

Ben Kinsella campaign

England soccer star Rio Ferdinand last night backed our Stop Knives Saves Lives campaign.

Holding one of the Mirror's T-shirts he said: "My heart goes out to Ben's family and all the other families affected by knife crime. I hope they get justice."

TV star presenter Fearne Cotton said: "I can't believe what is happening. This awful pandemic has come out of nowhere. What the Mirror is doing is a great thing and I back it with all my heart."

And Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, at the O2 Wireless Festival in London, urged youngsters to lay down their knives. She pleaded: "All these knife deaths have to stop...it has to stop."

X-Factor's Leona Lewis, from London, said: "Knife crimes cause so much unnecessary pain and distress to everyone involved.

"There are so many other ways to work out any arguments or conflicts. I back the campaign."
