Middlesbrough have today completed their first big summer transfer, the £3.2 million signing of Dutch forward Marvin Emnes.

Here's Mirror.co.uk’s top 10 things you need to know about Boro’s new hitman.

1) Marvin Emnes was born on 27th May 1988 in Rotterdam.

2) Emnes has not always dreamed of being a footballer. He tried his hand at sprinting before he became a professional footballer, so he should be pretty quick.

3) He is a 5' 11" Dutch striker who scored nine goals in 56 games last season in Holland, eight of those coming in his last 10 games.

4) That goal rush led the Sparta Rotterdam fans to name him their Player of the Year last season.

5) He may only be 20 but he knows how to strike a ball. This footage will bring a smile to all Boro fans if he can repeat this at the Riverside.

6) Emnes came through Sparta's junior ranks to make his debut in the 2005/2006 season.

7) Emnes will meet his new team-mates at Boro's traning ground, Rockliffe Park, when they return for pre-season training on Monday.

8) Emnes will face his old team-mates on August 8 when Middlesbrough face them in their last pre-season friendly before their first Premier League match against Tottenham.

9) Ajax and Feyenoord were interested in the 20-year-old striker but Boro beat off the competition to capture him today.

10 ) He has been touted as a complete player in his native Holland with pace, power, accuracy and - as we see here - an ability to go past players .
