The 19-year-old fired home a low drive reminiscent of the Frenchman in his prime three minutes before the interval.
Walcott made the most of Nicklas Bendtner's through pass to smash home off the inside of the far post.
That saved a sloppy Arsenal from potential embarrassment with the Hoyte brothers, Justin and Gavin, looking more like the Chuckle Brothers in central defence.

The pair allowed Krisztian Kenesei through to chip the opener over Manuel Almunia.
