The Roma defender and his partner Carla had just arrived back at their luxury home in the Axa-Casal Palocco district when they were confronted by two armed men.
Mexes scuffled with them but was forced to back off when a gun was pointed to his head.
Thankfully, the car was quickly abandoned in a small piazza nearby and police officers found the toddler safe and sound.
