NAMUR, Sep 19 (CP) - Landbouwkrediet rider Bert De Waele is the winner of the 48th edition of the GP de Wallonie, in the French speaking part of Belgium.
Dutchman Dirk Bellemakers, also of Landbouwkrediet, spent most of the day ahead of the peloton but was caught in the finale.
On the way to the top of the Citadelle of Namur, where the finish was located, only a small part of the peloton was left up front.
In the sprint, it was De Waele to take the win ahead of Cédric Vasseur. Favorite Thor Hushovd came in third.
