DJ Krush at Koko
DJ Krush, the Japanese producer of jazzy but jagged hip-hop beats, comes to Koko tomorrow. And if last time’s packed-out set is anything to go by, devotees of his experimental, off-kilter DJ style shall come in their masses. Krush has always viewed DJ equipment as not just a means to spin tunes but a tool to generate sounds itself. The odd self-indulgent and abrasive moment of overly enthusiastic scratching aside, he should put on a dazzling display and conjure up eerie, beautiful soundscapes.
Saturday: DJ Krush at Koko, NW1, 9.30pm–3am, £15 in advance from ticketweb.com
D&B birthday
DJ Marky must love DJing, indeed. For the third birthday bash of his DJ Marky & Friends night at The End, he’s taken on the frankly back-aching responsibility of manning the decks for a whopping eight hours. Thankfully, the fabulous remix collective Jazzanova also help out, taking care of the lounge.
Friday: DJ Marky & Friends at The End, WC1, 10pm–6am, £13, £12 in advance, £11 NUS, www.endclub.com
Free old-skool rave-up
Massive old-skool rave at Ministry tonight! A cavalcade of soldiers from back in the day (DJ Sy, Nicky Blackmarket, Huckleberry Finn) storm the Southwark temple to dance in an old-skool extravaganza that is free to all who register in time (see www.epidemik.com).
Friday: Epidemik at Ministry of Sound, SE1, 10pm–6am, free before 11.30pm if registered, then £10
Techno heaven
Bliss for techno fans: Detroit’s Kevin Saunderson swings by, as do Colin Dale and Octave One (left). Always good value.
Saturday: Fabric at Fabric, EC1, 10pm–7am, £16, £12 NUS, www.fabriclondon.com
Twins at their peak
Derrick May and Francois K – aka Cosmic Twins – rarely disappoint with their hypnotic electro-tech. Their Hi-Tek Soul nights are dependably excellent.
Saturday: Hi-Tek Soul at Ministry of Sound, SE1, 11pm–7am, £17, £15 in advance, £10 NUS, www.myspace.com/hiteksoul
