Grand Alp'

After a 30-year absence, Alpina is set to go racing again. In the FIA GT3 European Championship, to be exact, with this rather handsome-looking BMW 6-Series.

Back in the 1960s and 70s, Alpina was a formidable little racing outfit, with Niki Lauda, Jacky Ickx and Hans Stuck helping the team to wins in the European Touring Car Championship, as well as victory in the 24 hour races at Spa and the Nürburgring.

Since then, however, Alpina has concentrated on producing its own properly hot road-going versions of BMWs - and it's the B6S on which this racer is based.

With a supercharged 4.4-litre V8 developing 523bhp and 534lb ft of torque, it should be a fair match for the Lamborghinis, Ferraris and the rest from the GT3 series.

Far more importantly, with its massive rear wing and raked back front arches, how good does it look? That's how to do a green-and-blue-and-white livery, Honda.
