Internet radio attracts 14.5m listeners

Figures up by 2.5m since November 2007

Carrie-Ann Skinner

Some 14.5 million people have listened to internet radio at least once, a survey reports.

According to Rajar, the industry ratings body, that's 2.5 million more than in November 2007. The survey also highlighted that 6 million people have downloaded a podcast, 1.6 million up on the November 2007 survey.

Of those surveyed 10 percent highlighted that they listen to less live radio because of podcasts. However, analogue sets still outnumber digital versions as the device consumers use to listen to the radio, with 41 million using an analogue set at least once a week, compared to nine million digital users.
