Fusion allows users to run multiple operating systems virtually on an Intel Mac, including Linux and Windows.
New features in the virtualisation software include support for up to ten displays, improved networking and printing, experimental support for DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 2 and an improved user interface for application preferences.
VMware Fusion 2.0 Beta 1 also integrates importation of Parallels Desktop and Virtual PC for Mac virtual machines.
The beta is available now and the upgrade to the shipping version 2.0 will be free to all Fusion users.
VMware has made several video clips of the virtualisation software being put through its paces available for viewing on its website.
