Portugese operators continue iPhone distribution talks with Apple
Apple continues to negotiate with mobile networks in Portugal over the right to carry its iPhone.
A report this morning claims local Portugese telcos Portugal Telecom and Sonaecom SGPS remain in discussions with Apple over gaining rights to carry the device.
This news may furnish additional proof that the company plans to move away from exclusive deals to favour more widespread distribution of the device. Vodafone yesterday named Portugal as one of ten markets in which it had secured iPhone distribution rights
The Forbes report suggests Portugese operators are seeking the same kind of multi-carrier agreement Apple has already reached in Italy, where both Vodafone and Telecom Italia will offer the iPhone.
