iGet Mobile 2.0 lets you access data on your Mac using an iPhone
Nakahara Informatics has introduced iGet Mobile 2.0, the second generation of its software that allows users to access their Mac from their iPhone.
iGet Mobile is a web-based application that has been optimised for the Apple device. A Universal Binary, it requires Leopard be installed on the target Mac.
iGet Mobile not only allows users to browse their Macs remotely, but can also perform on-the-fly document conversions that make many common Mac file types more compatible with mobile devices. For example, a large Photoshop image can be automatically reduced in size and converted to a low-bandwidth format for viewing on the iPhone. These exchanges take place on the home Mac.
The software gives Mac users a personal web interface to access their documents remotely. The new version offers an improved web server component, a redesigned user interface for the Mac application and other enhancements. Automatic network configuration has also been improved, so most Mac users should be able to make their personal servers accessible from the internet without requiring networking expertise.
iGet Mobile also allows users to access their Macs from any decently web-capable device.
A demo version of the software is available. iGet Mobile costs $39.
