Google has introduced a new version of its Google Reader service, optimised for the iPhone.

Google Reader automatically checks your personal selection of news websites and blogs for new content, amalgamating new entries within its web-based interface.

“Today we're releasing a new beta version of Reader designed for the iPhone and other mobile phones with advanced browsers. You can use it by visiting http://www.google.com/reader/i/ on your phone,” Google explains on its Google Reader blog.

The new version is faster and slicker than before, and offers its information through a web-based portal. Starring, sharing and keeping unread controls feature in the view, though the new service remains in beta at this point.
