India set to see iPhone put on sale in many retail outlets
India seems set to be the largest iPhone roll-out yet, according to a local report.
The device is set to be made available for sale through both Vodafone and Airtel in the country, and Apple and its partners are preparing to make a splash on launch.
iPhone will be sold through “about 250,000 Vodafone and Airtel stores,” Riyaz.net explains. That’s significantly more high street presence than achieved so far in the US, where the device is available in Apple retail stores and 7,000 AT&T outlets.
The report suggests deals will also be put in place to enable franchised stores to sell the device, further extending Apple’s presence for iPhone sales in India.
