Singapore Airlines is now offering iPod and iPhone connectivity on select business class flights.

The airline is offering an iPod/iPhone-compatible in-flight entertainment syste on select business class Airbus A340-500 flights. The system lets users listen to music or watch video from their media player using the aircraft’s KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system, which offers a 15.4-inch screen in the seat.

Users will also be able to charge their devices, and playback will be automatically paused (and then restarted) when cabin crew or pilot have an announcement to make.

“Customers on our all-business class Airbus A340-500 flights now have an incredible way to enjoy their own iPod and iPhone music and video on the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system,” said Yap Kim Wah, senior vice-president product and services, for Singapore Airlines. “This is yet another example of our philosophy of creating customer satisfaction by providing an enhanced sense of choice and control.”

“The iPod is the world’s most popular digital music player and iPhone is a revolutionary mobile device, and they have become essential for millions of travellers,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPod & iPhone product marketing. “Singapore Airlines’ customers can now enjoy their music, TV shows and movies on their iPod and iPhone through the in-flight entertainment system.”

iPod and iPhone integration will commence with Singapore Airlines' A345 non-stop flights from Newark - Singapore on May 15, and on the carrier's Los Angeles - Singapore non-stops from August.
