Well-used games development tool migrates to Mac

Jonny Evans

Interest in the Mac as a gaming platform continues to grow, with MysticGD this week introducing key game development software, EMotion FX, to the Mac.

The news comes as Apple actively courts new relationships with key names in games, with Electronic Arts now moving to ship Mac games directly, rather than through key partners.

EMotion FX is a widely used animation middleware tool for games developers, used, for example, in the development of Mythic Entertainment’s Warhammer Online and Sony’s Vanguard - Saga of Heroes.

The release of the software tool was predicated by the growing popularity of Apple’s computer platform, the deveopers behind EMotion FX explain: The Mac platform is getting more and more market share as well as the Mac gaming sector is getting stronger. We are pleased to support PowerPC and Intel based Macs and are looking forward to work closely together with more Mac developers," said John van der Burg, development director of MysticGD.
