Analyst claims Apple has increased its iPod manufacturing orders by 15 per cent
Apple has boosted its iPod orders by 15 per cent, while reducing Mac orders to the tune of circa 15 per cent, a report claims.
Citing FBR Capital Markets analyst, Craig Berger, Apple Insider is reporting that Apple has boosted its iPod build numbers by the stated figure. However, the analyst claims to have figured out the data through a survey across companies involved in Apple’s supply chain.
"We see greater shuffle, classic, and nano builds slightly offset by fewer touch builds," says Berger, "with greater shuffle builds accounting for most of the increased iPod builds."
"For the second quarter, we see total PC build volumes declining about 15 percent sequentially due to Apple's [notebook] inventory build in 1Q," Berger estimates.
iPhone production has been reduced by 9 per cent in recent months, but this is anticipated to rise markedly on the release of the new model iPhone, which most anticipate will appear in June.
The analyst observes that his figures suggest, "consumer spending, at least at Apple, has not meaningfully deteriorated over the past two months."
