Movistar secures Spanish iPhone rights
Apple has struck a deal with Spanish mobile phone network, Movistar in order to launch iPhone in Spain.
While neither Apple nor Movistar have yet disclosed any scheduling plans, this is the latest in a series of deals promising to bring iPhone to countries across the world this year.
Last week it emerged Apple will offer the iPhone in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia through TeliaSonera AB. It is in talks with Royal KPN NV to distribute iPhone in the Netherlands.
Also last week Apple signed up up Hutchison Telecom (aka 3) to distribute the device in Hong Kong and Macau. Apple is also reportedly in talks with China Mobile for launch in China and NTT DoCoMo for launch in Japan.
Most countries worldwide are now covered, with the exception of Russia, China, Japan and some parts of the Middle East.
