Behold, The Watchmen Trailer! Commence excitement...now!
Watchmen, created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, is widely regarded as the greatest graphic novel in history – and not without reason. So the pressure on a movie adaptation of that work is immense. But if you watch the trailer for Zack Snyder's take on the story, we think you'll agree that all is looking very promising. Click the image below to see it, then check out our screen-to-comic comparison here.
Watchmen tells the story of a world where costumed heroes have been outlawed, but a small band are brought back together after someone starts picking off their now retired contemporaries.

Snyder has nailed the look of the comic, but without making it look slavish or too primary coloured. We love the tiny moment when you see the ink in Rorschach's mask start to shift. And the realisation of blue, naked, glowing Dr Manhattan is near faultless. Those costumes, which we weren't 100% convinced by in the first images, work brilliantly in motion. Our excitement levels just rose several notches. What do you think?
Watchmen, which stars Patrick Wilson, Matthew Goode, Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerman and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is released in March 2009.
Is anyone else concerned about the brief appearance of who is clearly the character Adrian Veidt? In the book the tall impressive, influencial, intentionally aryan figure is described by a journalist who goes to interview him as being as close to God-like as a human could be, when he sees him in his full costume doing gymnastics. The figure we see in the trailer looks like some scrawny nerd, with an arrogant haircut and a face most would want to punch. If they have got this character wrong th... Read More
The use of the Smashing Pumpkins track was deliberate. Don't you guys know anything? Don't you see the deliberate irony? Don't you get the symbolism? Don't you think that despite its 'pedigree' of being associated and written for one of the most campy superhero movies in recent times, it was just about perfectly in tone with the trailer? I joined this site hoping to find intelligent movie goers but with some of the comments I've seen so far (especially in regards t... Read More
Love the trailer, although isn't it a touch unnerving that the Smashing Pumpkins soundtrack is an orchestral version of the song produced for the godawful Batman and Robin... (The End Is the Beginning Is The End)?
Here's hoping it isn't an omen. ... Read More

Oh good god no. Aside from the Comedian only one other main character dies (Go read the book to find out who) and if he survives considering he left a significant clue as to what was going on in the actual book, it seems rather pointless. Here's hoping they keep it faithfull because as I said in the previous post, I reckon that the trailer indicates a faithfull conversion to the silver screen. I would hate to think that all that good faith so far atained was squandered by fucking it all up at t... Read More
Please don't mention S*p*rm*n R*t*rns in the same breath as either Dark Knight or Watchmen (or Iron Man for that matter) please. It's insulting.

Good God this looks utter rubbish. What with Incredible Hulk being not being a patch on Ang Lee's take & Dark Knight being good but not great, it's been left up to Iron Man to save the comic book movie.
Roll on Man of Steel I say to show us a proper superhero again after the sublime Superman Returns.

You're a mentalist aren't you? The Dark Knight good but not great! It was perfect in my opinion. And as for Ang Lee's shitter of a movie, don't get me ... Read More
There have been loads of Stop Start projects over the years about the making of Watchmen and all have left me a little cold! When I first heard that Zach Snyder was to head the project, I though hear we go again! Arnie for Dr Manhattan anyone? Then I heard that it was still gonna be set in the 80's with no new realisation, well not to the story anyway! (I was now starting to get mildly excitied). Now I've watched the trailer and thank fuck, its amazing. Character costumes updated (I mean ... Read More
