Rebecca Hall Joins Ealing's Dorian Gray Along with half the population of the UK Source: Variety
Rebecca Hall has joined the cast of Ealing Studios’ Dorian Gray, their retelling of Oscar Wilde’s classic novel, The Picture Of Dorian Gray.
It hasn’t been confirmed yet who the rather lovely Hall – the daughter of Sir Peter Hall – will play, but we’re guessing that she’ll be Sibyl Vane, an actress who falls in love with the hedonistic Dorian (played by Ben Barnes), who remains forever young while his portrait ages instead.
Hall is slowly but surely making a name for herself – after notable turns in The Prestige and Starter For Ten, she can next be seen in Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona. So fair play to her for doing a British film next when she could have decamped to Hollywood to give that a crack.
But Hall isn’t alone in joining the cast of Oliver Parker’s movie, which is currently shooting. In fact, roughly half the population of Britain has signed on in one fell swoop, with Ben Chaplin, Emilia Fox, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Max Irons (Jeremy Irons’ son, and not – as Empire thought – a really kick-ass anti-creasing product), Fiona Shaw, Pip Torrens, Douglas Henshall, Caroline Goodall, Michael Culkin, Johnny Harris, Hugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub all signing on the line that is dotted.
And that, dear readers, is one hell of a cast. Fingers crossed for this one.
Rebecca Hall's performance in Prestige instantly made her one of my favourite actresses, despite it being a rather small and unshowy role I thought she was one of the strongest points of the film, she was acting on a different level to everyone else, I was really suprised when I found out she was a newcomer. So it's great to see her getting some more high profile roles.
On another note - Christopher Nolan is one hell of a talent spotter/ creator. ... Read More

Read the book, watch the original film (an excellent adaption, especially with use of colour in a black and white movie). Ignore new remakes as they are superfluous. ... Read More
Ah, she might be just right for the love intrest for Dorian Gray. She was quite good in the Presige and Starter For Ten so she might be a new talent that can be in British films and not Keria Freaking Knightley all the time! I love what Pirate Queen said, my sister is in the same boat as you, love! ... Read More
i was sold on this as soon as i heard ben barnes was in it, as far as i'm concerned they can have as many characters in it as they want, as long as i get to sit for a good couple of hours and watch him (with his damn good hair!) ... Read More
It was Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub.
Not Hugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub.
As Pugh and Pugh were twin brothers.
This have nothing to do with the film though. So let's just say whoever is playing Dorian Gray has an easy job of beating Stuart Townsend. ... Read More
