Christopher Landon Has Burning Palms
Directorial debut for Disturbia writer
Source: Variety

Christopher Landon Has Burning Palms
Christopher Landon, the writer who brought us Disturbia, is making a very quick leap from being behind a computer to being behind the camera.

He’s just clinched a deal to direct the dark comedy, Burning Palms, from his own script.

The independent movie, which is financed by a company called Films In Motion (owned by Jason Hewitt – no relation, sadly, or else we’d be in production on Lethal Tender right now), is described as a subversive tale that links five stories set in Los Angeles, with no taboo left unexplored.

So expect lots of naughtiness and possibly so much filth that the Daily Mail might just self-combust in indignation. Why, the title alone could refer to a small town called Burning Palms. Then again, it could be something to do with stigmata. Or, quite simply, it might refer to the aftermath of too many hand shandies.

So it’s a far cry from Disturbia, then, for Landon, who’s also currently writing the planned remake of Near Dark. In fact, it’s beginning to look like the PG-13 Shia LaBeouf vehicle will be the odd one out on Landon’s CV when all is said and done.

Filming starts in October in the City of Angels. That’s LA, in case you weren’t paying attention.
Chris Hewitt
