George Clooney is in talks to star in Up In The Air, the new movie from Jason Reitman.
The movie will be based on the novel by Walter Kim, about a corporate downsizer who becomes obsessed with collecting air miles.
With shades of Reitman’s Thank You For Smoking and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love, this is one movie we’re placing highly on our want-to-see list. Reitman, of course, is hot property following Juno, and Clooney is always good value, so their team-up should be very interesting indeed.
Reitman has been circling the project, which first originated with Jay Roach, for years. In fact, he wrote thirty pages of a draft before concentrating on Thank You For Smoking and Juno, but clearly it’s a movie that just wouldn’t leave his head. Let’s hope the results justify his dedication.
DreamWorks will be signing the big cheques. | | Chris Hewitt |
