I am sure you have read reports of the Q and A with Ivan Gazidis, so it would be easier if readers just raise questions about it here in the forum. I will raise a few post meeting thoughts below before leaving it to you the reader.

Some of the extracts of the article below is out of date, hardly surprising as it was written in January 2005 less than a year after the invincible season. So why print it? Well there are some fans that insist that Wenger never had a youth policy, or that his squad is not weak. Yet clearly Wenger had changed his approach immediately after the invincible season. This raises the old who is to blame mostly him or the board chestnut. Reading the quote below hardly shows a Wenger at odds with the board, it shows a man who has the conceit that he is developmental manager, except for 8 years nothing has developed.There is talk of Wenger renewing his contract, if he does it will demonstrate that he and the board are as one. I find that depressing but no doubt the Church of Latter Day Wengerism will correct my heresy.

Did coaching problems and little chats do for Szcczesny?

When Arsene Wenger dropped Szczesny for the CL second leg in Munich and subsequent FAPL games many rejoiced in the belief that our manager had grown a pair and had become ruthless with our players. After all Szczesny was not alone in being dropped, the Captain Thomas Vermaelen was dropped too. But it seems we may be giving Wenger too much credit. A source close to the club told me that there was more to it than simply our manager deciding that Szczesny was in poor form. Indeed there were two factors, Fabianski’s contract offer and Szczesny unhappiness at his form and more importantly what Szczesny himself saw as the reasons for it.

B of a season Season Review 2012/13

As seasons go Arsenal’s 2012/13 season was what can only be termed as an up and down season, with much of the emphasis on the down. You could in fact call it a B of a season, well in the cups anyway. Arsenal went out of all cup competitions to teams beginning with the letter B. No shame in going out to Bayern Munich in the Champions league, especially as it was on away goals, but the same can not be said of our exits in the Capital One Cup to fourth tier Bradford City, and second tier Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup. To lose to such poor teams as Bradford and Blackburn, with Arsenal fielding almost full strength sides, is for me inexcusable and really should have led to Arsene Wenger’s dismissal. Maybe to lose one, but not both games.

As I left the Bank at 8pm ish, fans were still celebrating in the local pubs and streets on one of the rare warm evenings all season. It has been extremely rare for the Bank posse to sit outside after a match this season. Just like much of the season it has been bleak with little to cheer about, but at last the sun shone through.

Well the last game of the season at home greeted us with pouring rain, which might explain why Mystic Syd’s Crystal ball is clouding up as he was predicting a draw. Myself and the Trojan were going for a 3-0 win, why we imagined a clean sheet I can’t imagine. Perhaps we thought Wigan would be too tired from lifting that trophy, something that’s not a problem for our lads.

Arsène Wenger believes it can be misleading to judge teams on the gap in points between them, well he would say that wouldn’t he as his team managed only it’s 5th point in top five of league games for the whole season on drawing with Man Utd. No doubt this dropping of 25 points against top opposition explains why the Gunners are limping towards the finishing line of the 4th place trophy.

When Sidwell was sent off, after only 12 minutes, we all cheered the Russian broadcast to the echo, surely we would win this without any problem at all. Maybe that’s what Wenger’s team thought, for although a great result it was not a convincing performance.

Well Syd the cabby’s winning streak with the bookies has come to an end with a 0-0 draw, so not a good result for him. Simon68 came up with a 3-1 prediction and Syd and me 2-1. We were all wrong and the reason for that is that Arsenal lacked a striker of quality on the night.

In the greasy spoon before the match, Syd the Cabbie and me discussed our predictions, over Chicken Shish for a change. I thought it was time we had a clean sheet again so went for 3-0, whilst Syd looked into his crystal ball, he saw lots of sideways passing as the team struggled to score. It will be level at half time, and Arsenal will not score a goal until final ten minutes and will eventually win he soothsaid.

Syd the cabbie picked me up at the Cally tube, well nearby as the Caledonain Road was closed, due to the usual weekend invasion of cranes. I am sure they are taking over. I played with the newly installed 4Gee wifi for free in the back of his cab, as he sought a parking space outside our favourite greasy spoon. What a luxury parking so close, it’s something that can’t be done on match days as parking is restricted.

The following article will no doubt provoke controversy, and Arsenal fans are probably evenly divided on the advisability of retaining Arsene Wenger that much longer. There is also a deep disatisfaction with the board which needs a deeper examination than the one given here. But I believe it is a debate Arsenal fans should be able to have without throwing the dinner plates at each other. So thanks to Josh of Rouge London for kicking off the debate.

A good win but not a great win. Nothing to get excited about and nothing much to write about. Arsenal played at a cantor to beat a team doomed for relegation and a new manager who has an abysmal record against Arsenal. The last time he visited Arsenal his team conceded six goals. It was a game that should have been over by half time and yet at the break we were only one nil up.

We have had a long wait for anything Arsenal to happen this last 10 days. The highlight was probably the Ox's goal against the mighty San Merino often known as a load of bankers.
